SPENDING TIME WITH YOU
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place.” (Mark 1:35)
The recognizable measure of God’s likeness in you and me will be equal with our time spent in His presence. Our goal as we quiet our hearts before Him is godliness – Godlikeness so we may begin to reflect His glory. It is good first to be still and listen (Psalm 46:10); He may have specific works for us to engage in, as He did for Jesus (Luke 19:10). Our lives must begin to blend with His so we may be about “those good works He predestined for us, that we may walk in them.”
Today’s devotion is a poem/song that I recommend you use as a personal prayer. Like the Psalmist, our souls should yearn for God, for the living God
(Psalm 42:1,2). He asks, “When can I go and meet with God?” The answer is always NOW. May our Lord instill within us a deeper longing for Himself!
TIME WITH YOU
By Michael Farley
Spending time with You is a measure of my love
When I’m alone with You I can’t get enough – (I need You)
Spending time with You is when I feel complete
There’s no place I love like sitting at Your feet – (I love You)
Lead me to still waters, Lord take me to that place
Where time itself seems timeless, and I behold Your face
Lead me to still waters, Lord take me by the hand
Hold me like a little child, and tell me I’m Your friend
Spending time with You my troubles fade away
You wipe my tears for me and I sense Your embrace (I trust You)
Whom have I but You, You are my strength and song
When I’m alone with You, forever’s not too long (I praise You)
Spending time with You is a measure of my love
When I’m alone with You, I can never get enough.
